Help Make Dad Glad

Help Make Dad Glad

For the Strength of Youth suggests several ways you can honor your parents (see pages 14–15):
  1. Do your part. Pitch in without being asked.

  2. Have a happy attitude. Be cheerful, helpful, considerate, unselfish, and kind.
  3. Be a peacemaker. Quit quarreling, turn off teasing, and forget about fighting.
  4. Show love daily. Express your love for each other—often.
  5. Share your testimony. Demonstrate through words and actions that you live the gospel. Keep the commandments.
  6. Join in. Be there for prayer, scripture study, and family home evening. Participate in family activities and traditions.
  7. Respect your parents. Obey them as they lead you in righteousness.
  8. Support your siblings. Show interest in their interests and help them with their challenges. Mom and Dad will appreciate the family unity as you work to strengthen your relationships.
  9. Be patient. If your parents aren’t ideal role models, continue to love them and live righteously, looking for other worthy role models too.
  10. Get ready for the future. Prepare now to someday fulfill your divine role as husband or wife and as a parent. Commit to marry in the temple and establish your own eternal family.
